The City of Orlando, in partnership with United Arts of Central Florida, is looking to appoint Orlando’s next Poet Laureate.

The position, which launched in 2017 with Orlando’s first-ever official poet, Susan Lilley, is a ceremonial appointment serving as a fixture in the city’s cultural, literary, and visual art programming where they’ll present original works of poetry. Like this piece below.

Qualified applicants can click HERE to submit an application for the position through June 18. Applications will be reviewed by a mayor-appointed Poet Laureate Search Committee to assist in the selection process, with an announcement made in October 2021 during National Arts and Humanities Month.

The nominee must be a Central Florida resident, over the age of 21, and not enrolled in a full-time academic program.
