The baseball fields at Ward Park in Winter Park have been under construction/renovation for several months but the work has finally finished.

Stormwater pipes under the field were failing so the Winter Park Public Works Department’s Stormwater Division was forced to do a full replacement of the one-thousand-foot run of pipes, which serve a 75-acre basin in the surrounding neighborhood, which includes 49 acres of parkland, 4-acres of residential property, one residential street, and 22-acres of hospital property.

The pipes ran under portions of the baseball fields, so the Parks and Recreation Department took the opportunity to renovate the surrounding grounds. Improvements include a new irrigation system, new field sod, clay, and bases, new fencing, and a rebuilt batting cage.

Ward Park (Website) is located at 250 Perth Lane [GMap], Winter Park.
