The City of Orlando is hiring for a new Nighttime Economy Manager to join the Downtown Development Board team.
Orlando’s nighttime economy focuses on hospitality, live music, and dining sectors and this Project Manager position is responsible for coordinating local, national, and international research and implementing best practices to enhance the nighttime economy in Downtown Orlando and assisting hospitality business operators to achieve consistent compliance with city regulations through increased education and outreach.
The role is also responsible for recruiting new nightlife and entertainment businesses to Downtown Orlando, supporting new business growth, and working with the Marketing and Communications Manager to drive the marketing and promotion of the sectors to local, national, and global audiences.
Interested applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in planning, urban studies, economics, business or public administration, or related field; and four years of experience in business development, marketing/public relations, public policy, public administration, public safety, or related field; with demonstrated experience working with the nightlife and entertainment sector; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A master’s degree in a related area is strongly desired.
The salary is estimated at $71,780-$91,520 annually.

If you want a real story, look why the city has supported these bars and why there has never been any incentive for actual businesses. Thanks to Buddy, he has closed the remaining restaurants in the area and is now hiring a position to improve the nightlife? What a joke.

The City of Orlando has plenty of people in place to help support daytime businesses and the nighttime economy isn’t solely for bars and restaurants.

Whoever takes this job, please make a Taipei-style Night Market on Court Street. Set high standards for permits, for actual food, not popcorn and cokes. Use permit money on setting up lighting and a fun atmosphere. Make it feel cramped and lively and mysterious, not a boulevard of sad stalls on the edges.
