If you’re lucky enough to have Monday, July 5th off from work in observation of Independence Day, you don’t have to spend it doing chores or getting drunk at a barbecue. You can go and take a drive to some local, local-ish, and day trip locales in the state to give the holiday some context.
Not all of these landmarks touch on the birth of the nation, but they do have to do with being an American and with being a human.
