We told you HERE in December 2018 that the former Expedition Church, home of the infamous neon “Jesus Never Fails” sign, was for sale. Well, the property was purchased and the new owner has filed paperwork to knock it down and building some new housing.
The church was abandoned due to a faulty roof and extensive storm damage that the resident church couldn’t afford to repair. The sign went with them.
The new owner is proposing the demolition of the current church building and adjacent residence, located at 13 Hampton Avenue [GMap], in order to build two side-by-side tandem lots, which would result in four total units with a shared driveway.
The homes would be located kitty-corner from Mayor Langford Neighborhood Center and Park.
What happened to the neon sign?
Great use of the space–and right by Mayor Langford Park!
