Orlando gets hot in the summer. That’s not breaking news, it’s just a fact. But you don’t have to haul your butt out to the coast every time you want to cool off, because we have some local-ish options available for you right here in Central Florida.

Check out our latest map for some swimming options at local hotels, public pools, or Florida springs.

If you’re nervous about swimming in public pools, that’s cool. That’s totally normal, but we have some tips to help you decide whether or not you should dive in.

  • Check the scores – Pools get graded just like restaurants, so check out their safety score before you go. They should be posted online, but you can ask them over the phone too.
  • Inspect that shit your own self – Bring your own pH strips and get all sciencey up in that shizzle. See if the tiles are slimy, if the water is cloudy, or if there is a weird odor. Cholrine smells more intense when it is interacting with organic compounds like urine because it’s working harder.
  • Konw your limits – Are you more at risk for certain diseases? Are you immuno-compromised or have an open wound? Stear clear of the pool if you’re prone to illnesses like Legionnaires Disease or if you’re on chemo, have diabetes, or are a heavy smoker.
