The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games (Website) will be hosted in Orlando and ahead of the blockbuster sporting event, organizers are looking for artists to submit designs for the cauldron that will hold the “Flame of Hope.”

The USA Games officials are looking to work with a local, “purpose-driven artist,” on the centerpiece cauldron that will be revealed at the opening ceremony celebrations at Exploria Stadium via the newly launched “USA Games Cauldron Arts Project.”

Artists who are interested in throwing their name in the pot can submit their resume, photos of past projects, and a letter of intent for a committee to review by August 18 at midnight. Six artists will then be selected to move onto the second round of review, where they will receive a $500 stipend to use for a design concept and to develop production plans, with the final artist being chosen in fall 2021 when they will be given a $45,000 budget and will host a workshop with Special Olympics athletes and then bring the Special Olympics USA Games cauldron into being.
