The City of Orlando just launched a program bent on attracting more events to the downtown core.

The Special Events Grants Program, funded by the Community Redevelopment Agency, will provide grants to event organizers in two tiers; events for under 10,000 attendees, and events for 10,000 or more. Events in the smaller level can receive up to $10,000 in funds from the CRA with up to $50,000 being available for larger-scale events.

The initiative is part of the CRA’s goals according to the DTOutlook document which you can read HERE, despite earlier claims that large crowds and a “pervasive street party atmosphere” contribute to crime.

Applications will open on Sunday, August 1, 2021, and close on Wednesday, September 1, for events taking place between October 2021 and April 2022. A new application window will open for events taking place later in 2022.
