UPDATE: The Lake Alert issued for Lake Emerald was lifted on Wednesday, September 15.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) has determined that Lake Emerald in South Orlando [GMap] has potentially unsafe levels of microsystins in the water and has advised the City of Orlando to issue a Lake Alert.
As a result, members of the public are advised to refrain from swimming, recreating, and irrigating from/in Lake Emerald until further notice.
The FDEP will continue to monitor the water quality in Lake Emerald until further notice.
