UPDATE: An update from Thirsty Topher has informed us that the restaurant is expected to re-open on Monday, August 9 under a new name but with the same weird/tasty pizza we’ve all come to love. More information pending.
According to a recent report by Faiyaz Kara of Orlando Weekly, Perla’s Pizza in Ivanhoe Village has closed.
The pizza concept by Michael Collantes of Taglish and Soseki opened the restaurant next to The Thirsty Topher in January 2021 when the bar owners opened up in the space next door at 601 Virginia Drive [GMap] to creative restaurateurs via a Facebook post.
The menu featured a variety of tasty and out-of-the-box items including a banana and pepperoni pizza that quickly became a local Instagram favorite.
We reached out to Collantes for a quote but hadn’t heard back at the time of this post, though he told Orlando Weekly that the lease had run out and he simply chose not to renew.
