The City of Winter Park Water and Wastewater Utilities Department joined the City of Orlando and OUC in asking its customers to conserve water for the next two to three weeks due to a pending liquid oxygen shortage.

The City of Winter Park is asking customers to use less water and not wash their cars and delay using pressure washers until further notice. This call to inaction does not apply to homes on their own private wells or residents using non-potable water sources for irrigation.

Liquid oxygen is an essential component of the ozone gas used to purify water from the aquifer and is currently being used in vast quantities by local hospitals in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
