The City of Orlando has just installed a new midblock pedestrian crosswalk on Primrose Drive, just south of Amelia Street.

According to a release from the City, the crosswalk makes use of new automated flashing beacons that use a passive detection technology that operates on infrared heat profiles to identify pedestrians and cyclists within a certain perimeter and automatically activate the beacons without the need to push a button.

Other completed crosswalk improvements include:

  • Raised midblock crosswalks on Bruton Boulevard near Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center.
  • New signage and pavement markings at a new midblock crosswalk at Z.L. Riley Park.
  • New marked crosswalk on Fort Lane Drive at Gore Street.
  • New crosswalk with signage and pedestrian signal on Fern Creek Avenue at Curry Ford Road.
