OCTOBER 7 UPDATE: The Lake Alert for Lake Como has been lifted and the posted signs are removed. Please resume all normal water activities associated with this lake.

The City of Orlando’s City Water Reclamation personnel were called to stop a sanitary sewer overflow on Wednesday, October September 29 at the intersection of South Bumby Avenue and East South Street.

The block, likely caused by a blockage created by heavy grease deposits and roots, caused an overflow of roughly 2,000 gallons of raw sewage. As a result, Lake Como has been shut off to all water contact activities until further notice due to the possibility of elevated fecal coliform counts.
