The City of Orlando is leaning into its relationship with the University of Central Florida and funding a number of programs via its UCF Research Foundation.

The City stated at the October 11 Council Meeting that there was a “public need” to fund the following programs in the amount of $910,000.

  • $600,000 to the UCF Business Incubator Program to help fund office space for the downtown program and the Lake Nona Life Sciences program, which includes rental space for clients and staff.
  • $150,000 to the National Entrepreneur Center to help fund a shared facility for non-profit resource partners and offices for the organization, including conference rooms, computers, and shared office equipment.
  • $10,000 to the UCF Business Incubator Soft Landing Program which offers operational support to companies that are recruited to relocate to the Central Florida area and into a UCF Business Incubation facility.
  • $150,000 to the StarterSTudio Non-Profit Evergreen Seed Fund to invest in second-stage startup companies in the area.
