Local chef Denni Cha has opened a new Korean-style hot dog truck.
The last time we wrote about Cha he was making fancy sushi for the omakase hot spot, Soseki (Instagram | Website), in Winter Park. Since then he’s split off to launch his own concept and swapped out sushi for Instagram-ready corn dogs.
A Korean hot dog, or hasdogeu, is essentially a hot dog with rice cakes, fish cakes, or mozzarella cheese, that is coated in batter then rolled in a coating of panko, French fry pieces, or ramen, and then deep-fried. They’re also known as “goblin clubs” because depending on what they’re rolled in, they can look spikey or like a weapon.
Uncle Dendog’s (Instagram) made its debut at Ziggie’s Pizza in Ivanhoe Village but is currently operating as a resident truck at Orlando Brewing in the SoDo District, from 6:30-10 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and 6:30-11 p.m. on Fridays.
Orlando Brewing is located at 1301 Atlanta Avenue [GMap].
