The City of Winter Park is hard at work planning a new holiday display of decorations and lights for the upcoming season. and this year it’ll be bigger than ever.

The City Commission approved a design plan, created by AOA of Winter Park, in September that will include seasonal greenery, warm strings, and globes of lights, poinsettia trees, hanging baskets, life-sized, Instagrammable holiday greeting cards, street banners, and more.

“With continuing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, and a difficult 2020 holiday season for the local business community, the city is eager to implement the new holiday theme throughout a larger portion of our downtown business district. We are working to create a joyous and colorful atmosphere to surround our residents and guests as they shop and dine locally within a merry and festive environment.”

– CITY MANAGER RANDY KNIGHT

The holiday decor will be decked along Park Avenue and West New England Avenue, and into Hannibal Square, as per usual, and this year the footprint will be expanded to include Morse Boulevard and Orange Avenue.

Central Park, Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, and Shady Park will also feature holiday décor.

Shops in those areas are being encouraged to join the city’s efforts by decorating their storefronts and windows as well, with the return of the annual Holiday Window Contest.
