Orange County Animal Services is near capacity with 174 dogs in its care at the moment.

The shelter received 109 dogs in the past week, with 34 being surrendered by their owners. 35 of the dogs at the shelter are available for adoption, meaning they’ve been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and are ready to leave immediately to be with their new families.

While available kennel space is limited, the shelter is asking all owners considering surrendering their animals to consider asking friends and families or reaching out to local rescue groups first.

Some good news is that long-term resident, Cano, who we wrote about HERE, was adopted over the weekend.

  1. So sad when an owner has to surrender their dog to a kennel. I can’t imagine what someone must be going thru to turn in their pet. I hope these doggies find homes soon.
