“Hey, it looks like Cleo’s Lounge closed. Do you know what happened?”

– BUNGALOWER READER

Reports were coming in late last month that beloved downtown watering hole, Cleo’s Lounge (Facebook) had closed up shop. While that’s kind of true, the real story is that the bar and the building it’s located in, were purchased by new owners, and the bar will be transformed into a new concept in 2022.

Located at 11 S. Court Avenue [GMap], Cleo’s shares the same building/compound as Casey’s on Central, Celine, and Swigg’s, the building was purchased for $7.2 million on December 9, 2020, by Team Market Group – which owns and operates neighboring venues at Mather’s Social Gathering, The Robinson Room, Aloha Beautiful, and Ann Teague’s.

Team Market Group co-owner, Romi Mawardi, told Bungalower that Cleo’s will be reopened this Friday, November 5th, and will stay open for the next few months before closing again for the final time, after which it will be renovated and transformed into a new, unnamed concept in 2022.

We will share information on the new concept once we have it.

  1. The new owners reopened without a liquor license, tried to use the Cleo’s name and were forced to close. A bunch of scammers that put a favorite downtown drinking hole out of business for greed. No matter what concept they reopen as, locals will not forget and won’t patronize the creeps. Watch them do the same thing to Casey’s, Swigg and the other bars.

  2. They bought the building and then raised the rent so massively it basically forced them out.. Horrid group of people..
