Orlando Science Center will host a wreath-laying ceremony at the Red Tails Monument, just outside the café entrance in Loch Haven Park in honor of Veteran’s Day on Thursday, November 11.

The Red Tails Monument was installed in November 2013 and was made possible through a partnership with Orlando Science Center and Vision of Flight, to honor the Red Tail Pilots of the Tuskegee Airmen – the first African-American Air Corps in World War II.

The ceremony is expected to be brief and will feature remarks by Tom Mirek with Lockheed Martin, JoAnn Newman with Orlando Science Center, and Michael McKenzie with Vision of Flight. The ceremony will conclude with a moment of science, followed by a bugler honoring fallen heroes with a performance of “Taps.”

The ceremony is sponsored by Lockheed Martin and is open for everyone to attend.

In addition to the ceremony, Orlando Science Center is offering a special admission rate for veterans and active military now through November 14. The museum is providing free admission to all veterans and active military with valid military ID and 50% off for their attending family. This special promotion is made possible by Lockheed Martin.
