The historic Black Bottom House of Prayer collapsed in December 2019 when its roof caved in and took its supporting walls with it.

The building, which is listed as a historic landmark by the City of Orlando, was built in 1925 and is considered one of the oldest church buildings in the city. It’s sat empty ever since the collapse but the church community has been hosting regular services on the side of the property in a series of pop-up tents.

Repairs are estimated to be more than $1 million but the pastor, Dana Jackson, has applied for a grant that would cover most of the costs, but she needs to raise $250,000 by November 30 to qualify.
