EDIT: The original version of this story stated that this was the second location of King Bao but it will be the third. The second location is in the UCF area (but we pretend that part of town doesn’t exist as it’s not in our coverage area). The Winter Park location is expected to open in mid-January.

Mills 50 favorite, King Bao (Facebook Instagram), is opening a new restaurant in Winter Park.

The first restaurant opened in January 2016 in the former home of Raphsodic Bakery (yes, we know that’s not how you spell rhapsodic) with a bao-specific menu of affordable and tasty buns and tots.

Their second third restaurant is currently being built out in the former home of Bad As’s Sandwich at 1881 W. Fairbanks Avenue [GMap] near Lombardi’s Seafood. Bad As’s owner, John Collazo, closed the location in October 2021 but is opening another location in Edgewood.

According to King Bao’s social accounts, they’re expecting their new location to “open soon” but more details hadn’t been released at the time of this post.
