“Is Stonewall out of business?”

– DAN WINE

According to a recent article by Watermark‘s Jeremy Williams, the Parramore-based LGBTQ venue has indeed closed.

Stonewall Bar Orlando (Facebook Website), located at 741 W. Church Street [GMap] directly adjacent to Exploria Stadium, started out as a single-story restaurant back in 2007. Owner Steven Watkins then carried out some ambitious renovations to the building that added an outdoor courtyard, a second story to the original building, and a merman tank (that wasn’t really used for over a decade) transforming it into the beloved gay bar it is today.

THIS IMAGE WAS POSTED ON STONEWALL’S FACEBOOK PAGE ON DECEMBER 29TH BUT HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED.

Watkins then moved to South Florida leaving the bar to new owners who never quite sealed the deal, according to the Watermark story. A closure on New Year’s Eve, which was meant to be temporary, has since been decreed indefinite by Watkins until he can find new owners to sell the property to.

We’ve reached out to Watkins for a statement but had not heard back at the time of this post. Be sure to read Williams’ report for all the details.

We will update this post with a sales price if/when we hear back from Watkins, though we hear there are already offers on the table.
