RENDERING BY ZYSCOVICH ARCHITECTS VIA CITY OF WINTER PARK

As first reported by Jim Carchidi, the new editor at the32789, the City of Winter Park will be carrying out an overhaul of its old public stage in the center of Central Park this spring.

The current awning-topped platform resembles a simple 10×10 event tent you may see at a local farmers market (but obviously much larger) and was built in the early 80s, but the new stage will be much showier, with elements taken from the nearby SunRail train station.

Funding for the new $840,000 stage is coming from the Winter Park CRA and moneys received via the American Rescue Plan Act, which awarded funds to initiatives that help meet the increase in demand on public spaces due to the pandemic.

Construction is expected to begin following the upcoming Sidewalk Art Festival in April should be finished in October.
