EDIT: The original version of this story cited that the new concept may be a pizza concept based on paperwork filed with the City but that concept, led by V Pizza, was something else entirely and has moved on to a new address. The new concept by DiPaolo is not affiliated.

“Hey! Do you guys know what’s going in the old Marlow’s Tavern off Orlando (17-92) in Winter Park?”

– JEL PERDOMO

Well, Jel, it appears that the new occupant is none other than Chelsie DiPaolo of the recently defunct vegetarian restaurant The Sanctum.

According to a recent post on LinkedIn by real estate company Forness Properties, the 6,150 SF building at 1008 Orlando Avenue [GMap] has just been leased to DiPaolo for a new mystery concept of hers.

We’ve reached out to DiPaolo for comment and have yet to receive a response but according to paperwork filed under the address, the building is labeled as a new pizza concept.

According to the City of Winter Park, no permits had been filed for the property at the time of this post.

The “She’s Back” quote on the sign likely alludes to DiPaolo’s retreat from the public eye following a “firestorm of sexual harassment allegations against her husband and business partner…” that forced her to close her restaurants Proper and Wild and The Sanctum in Mills 50, as reported by Orlando Sentinel’s Amy Drew Thompson in June 2020.

The team behind Deli Desires (Instagram) took over the former Sanctum space in late 2020 with plans to convert it into a new concept in the near future.

  1. What about all the allegations that chelsie was enabling her husband and essentially an active participant in the harassment and keeping the employees quiet? Funny how you left that part out.

  2. Well considering I once got terrible food poisoning at the Sanctum a few years ago… That’s going to be a hard pass for me.
