We told you HERE in October that the historic Key West-style property, The Veranda at Thornton Park, was for sale and it looks like it’s already found a new owner.

Verax Investments, led by local neurosurgeon and developer Dr. Ravi Gandhi, told us late last week that he had purchased the mixed-use development on the corner of Summerlin and East Washington with the intention of updating it and making it into the new crown jewel of the neighborhood.

Dr. Gandhi told Bungalower that he was inspired by similar properties that he came across on his travels like The Wharf in Miami and home-based options like A La Cart and The Wellborn, to purchase the property and create something even better here in town.

“The Thornton Park District is an organic Orlando experience – where locals live, work and play. My partners and I are committed to re-energizing some of the existing jewels of the community and innovating new ways for the community to engage. We are excited about The Veranda – our plans for this focal hot spot include events to engage the local community, events introducing fresh faces to the area, and some “in process” unique ways of bringing excitement to the area.”

– RAVI GANDHI, MD, VERAX INVESTMENTS

Gandhi hopes to renovate some of the buildings on the property and bring in some strategic partners to operate new businesses there, including a possible taproom/wine room, onsite food trucks, a cocktail lounge, and possibly a dumpling shop or Indian street food vendor. The courtyard will continue to operate as an outdoor event space and wedding rental venue.

Work is expected to begin before the end of the year.

We created a whimsical Pinterest Board of possibilities for the property with a number of things that we’d love to see happen there.
