Japanese waffle-maker Wafu (Facebook Instagram) will be taking over a space that has opened up in East End Market.

The fish-shaped waffle-makers, that we’ve written about previously HERE, will be taking over the storefront left vacant by Dochi on the second floor of the Audubon Park-based food hall on April 1, with an opening scheduled for sometime in May.

A new expanded menu will also feature taiyaki ice cream cones alongside their traditional taiyaki waffles, in a variety of rotating Japanese flavors, with vanilla always being available. Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped cake made with cast iron forms that is sold as a popular street food, often made with sweet or savory fillings of custard, chocolate, cheese, or sweet potato.

Dochi will be moving downstairs into the space left vacant by Olde Hearth this past December at the front of the building. Dochi will be selling their popular mochi donuts in a more robust cafe-style setup following extensive renovations. An opening date has not been shared with us at this time.
