Rendering via 2017 Design Award Winners, AIA Orlando, "Unbuilt Honorable Mention" - Holocaust Memorial Resource Center of Florida by HuntonBrady Architects

The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida (Website) has filed paperwork with the City of Orlando to formally postpone the launch of their new downtown campus in Ivanhoe Village.

The Holocaust Center, currently located in Maitland, approached the City of Orlando in 2018 to lease the former Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce property located at 75 S. Ivanhoe Boulevard [GMap], which was left vacant following the merger of the Orlando Economic Development Commission and the Chamber in 2017.

The Center filed for an extension on its lease with the City of Orlando to buy some time to raise more funds. The project was originally projected to have a price tag of roughly $30 million but due to labor shortages, delays, and increasing construction costs, it’s estimated that it will now cost roughly $40 million to complete. The Holocaust Center estimates that they will need another year before they can start construction, which makes April 30th, 2023 the new launch date with an estimated completion date of April 30, 2026.
