We told you HERE in May 2021 about a small batch meadery looking for a place to call home in the City Beautiful and we are happy to report that they’ve finally found a home in a very special Mills 50 building.

Local creative Ginger Leigh, one-half of the team behind the award-winning Zymarium Meadery (Facebook Website), told Bungalower that they had just signed a lease for the famously orange former home of Say It Loud design agency, the Orange Studio.

Former building owner Julio Lima placed the building on sale last year and it was recently snatched up by some unnamed investors. Lima was kind enough to help sponsor our Celestial Apes mural that we commissioned from local artist Schiani Ledo back in 2020, using funds we earned from a collaborative beer release with the team at Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co. The mural will soon be relocated to the tasting room at Tactical Brewing in Baldwin Park, which already boasts a number of murals by Ledo, who designs their labels and digital artwork.

The new 6,000 SF space will e converted over the next few months to house the meadery concept which will feature a large bar/taproom area, a production area, and some space for special events.

Zymarium Meadery is expected to open later in the year.

  1. There’s a typo.
    It’s Julio Lima not Julia.
    That was our mother’s name.
    I’m Julio’s sister.
