“Hey, Brendan. Do you know what’s being built on the corner of Fern Creek and Colonial? It looks big!”
– BUNGALOWER READER
A new apartment project is being built on the formerly vacant two-acre lot located on the northeast corner of Fern Creek Avenue and Colonial Drive [GMap] in Mills 50 which formerly housed a restaurant and Chevron gas station.
We first wrote about the project HERE in August 2020 when it was first presented to the City of Orlando for approval but haven’t touched it since. The new Alexan at Mills 50 by Trammel Crow Residential Co. will feature 246 new high-end apartments, 15 live-work units, a public dog park, and a parking garage when finished though 154 of those apartments will be studios, with another 29 one-bedroom, and 48 two-bedroom apartments.
We covered the project previously HERE in August 2020
Altaloma Avenue, between Woodward Street and East Colonial, is scheduled to stay closed until December 2022 due to construction on the site.

Imagine having fascinating architecture like in the 1800s and turn into this ugly box like shit without ornamental facade designs lmao, we sure have not progressed, but the opposite.
It looks the same as all the rest of the apartments in this town….boring
As long as they leave the Starbucks!
Another shitty looking apartment monstrosity
I sure wish they were doing something interesting and iconic on top of the building at the corner of Fern Creek and Colonial. You can see it all the way from Rosalind Ave looking down Colonial. It sticks up above everything. Just a bunch of squares is so dull and boring. You won’t really be able to see the mural on Fern Creek unless you are right up against it.
