Orange County, the City of Orlando, and Visit Orlando will once again bring back their collaborative 407 Day initiative in an annual attempt to encourage people to support local businesses.

407 Day will take place on Thursday, April 7, 2022, and residents are encouraged to celebrate their hometown pride by shopping at and supporting local area businesses. This now annual campaign, inspired by the area’s longtime area code, encourages residents to support their favorite restaurants, bars, shops, boutiques, services, and other locally owned businesses by sharing posts and photos on social media channels using the hashtag #407Day while visiting them.

All three entities have partnered with popular local food blog Tasty Chomps (Instagram | Website) for a #407Day social media giveaway with the chance to win prizes from local businesses and organizations by sharing posts and photos, marked with the aforementioned hashtag, via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Many local shops will be offering specials and giveaways of their own in an attempt to woo those local dollars. Last year Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream and Gideon’s Bakehouse created a special ice cream sandwich cookie – that I hope will make a return appearance.
