We told you HERE in March 2021 that the City of Orlando would be building a new electric vehicle charging hub in downtown Orlando as part of a larger statewide EV infrastructure initiative and construction has finally begun.
Construction began in early February on the new Robinson Recharge Mobility Hub, which will feature up to 20 new Level 3 charging stations on OUC-owned property located at 129 W. Robinson Street [GMap], just to the south of Ace Cafe Orlando.
The $1.8 million project is expected to be completed later this year and will be the largest of its kind in the state, with the capabilities to charge a variety of different types of battery-powered vehicles.
The location was chosen due to its proximity to the I-4 overpass in downtown Orlando and should be able to charge a low battery in 20-60 minutes and was funded in part by a $500,000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, with OUC paying for the remaining costs.
