The Trophy Room is a Michael Jordan apparel shop brand that is owned by Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan, which originally opened in Disney Springs, that also specializes in some very exclusive streetwear brands. We shared the news in 2020 that Jordan had closed that store and was working on opening something in the newly-opened Modera Central building by Lake Eola and that time has finally come, two years later.
While it officially soft-opened in late March, the shop has been limiting the number of shoppers it lets through the doors each morning, operating the small-scale boutique almost like an atelier for reservation only. People were lining up for days before it even soft-opened, with Bungalower getting reports of people selling fake wristbands that were supposed to give some sort of VIP shopping status to the person wearing them. The hype was real.
The mayor will join District 5 City Commissioner Regina Hill for a ribbon-cutting during the grand opening of the shop at 12:45 p.m. Friday, April 22, with the event running from noon-8 p.m. for savvy shoppers. For those who want to attend the opening, they’ll need to get on the VIP list first, and the only way to do that is to show up at the store ahead of the event and talk to the door people. You can’t do it online.
Customers are capped on how much they can purchase as well; two footwear items, five apparel items, and three accessories.
Management told Bungalower that even following the opening they will continue to operate on a reservation basis only in order to control the number of shoppers inside at any time, given the value of the merchandise inside.
