May 17 UPDATE – Lake Alert for Turkey Lake has been lifted.
The City of Orlando’s Streets and Stormwater Division reported yesterday that due to a grease blockage (don’t pour grease down your drains) an estimated 500 gallons of sanitary waste made its way into Turkey Lake.
The City of Orlando is advising that all water contact activities associated with Turkey Lake stop until further notice, including irrigation. Once E. coli counts have reached acceptable levels, activities will e allowed to resume.
Signs have been placed along public shoreline around the lake.
