Orlando’s Edgewater High School (Website) crew team recently had two boats win gold at the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association State Championships in Sarasota at Nathan Benderson Park over the past weekend, qualifying them for two out-of-state competitions.

The men’s junior four and women’s junior four both qualified for two upcoming regattas: the 95th Schuylkill Navy Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia on May 21, 22, and Nationals (the Scholastic Rowing Association North American Championships) in Camden, New Jersey on May 28, 29.

The Stotesbury Cup Regatta, “Stotes” as the kids call it, is the largest high school regatta in the world. While the Scholastic Rowing Association North American Championships will determine national winners in each competition. The Edgewater H.S. Crew team will field the two boats at each of the two races, men’s junior four and women’s junior four.

The Edgewater Crew Team is working on various fundraising opportunities for the two boats to fund the 10 Edgewater High School students’ trips to each of these out-of-state competitions to represent Orlando.

Fundraising opportunities include booths at the College Park Publix on May 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. For more information on how the students can be supported, visit www.EdgewaterCrew.org or Edgewater Crew GoFundMe Page.
