We told you HERE in June 2022 that Mason Jar Provisions (Facebook | Website) was closing its Thornton Park location and looking to move somewhere “bigger and better” and we now know they’ve secured a spot in Winter Park near Rollins College.
Owner AJ Haines told Bungalower that he’s just finished signing the paperwork to take over the Manzano’s Deli (Facebook | Website) storefront at 221 W. Fairbanks Avenue [GMap] as early as September 1. We reached out to Manzano’s Deli for a timeline leading up to the closing of this location but had not heard back at the time of this post. The original location in New Smyrna Beach, Manzano’s Beachside Deli, is still going strong and has been in operation since 2009.
Haines, who has worked a number of restaurants throughout his career, including Wolfgang Pucks and Morimoto Asia, shared that he will be dropping the “Mason Jar Provisions” moniker and opening a new concept called The Hen and Hog (Instagram) but the menu will feature a number of Mason Jar favorites like their popular smash burgers and fish and chips alongside new items like osso buco, chicken pot pie (a vegan chicken pot pie too), and more, as well as daily specials like its original Tuesday Pasta feature.
The 50-60-seat Hen and Hog will have beer and wine service when it opens and Hines said he’s hoping to secure liquor in the near future as well, but that it was still in the works, and that it will be more “upscale casual dining” than Mason Jar, with plated dishes and table service. They’ll also be open for brunch.

Sounds good missing my southern soul food for a while now. Will definitely be checking this out. I have been looking for a good chicken pot pie for a long time.
