This is our latest rundown of the top ten things you need to know this week, in Orlando’s downtown “bungalow neighborhoods,” and some bonus headlines you may have missed.
Click HERE to listen to the 287th episode of “Bungalower and The Bus” on Real Radio 104.1, which was recorded at The Wellborn (Facebook | Website) in downtown Orlando, a beautiful historic property tucked away in a corner under the 408 overpass, for the unveiling of its new fancy menu. Our friends from Ben Laube Homes joined in on the fun.
TOP TEN HEADLINES
- In the neverending show that is Mad Cow’s exodus from Church Street, the City of Orlando had to threaten to sue them in order to get them to return over $30,000 of equipment that they agreed to leave behind in exchange for not having to pay back hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt to City Hall. Miraculously, it all showed up in storage shortly after the announcement.
- The developer of The Plaza tower in downtown Orlando is back with plans to build a new 36-story tower on one of the last remaining surface parking lots in the Central Business District.
- A section of Orange Avenue in Ivanhoe Village could look very different in the near future and seems pretty stoked about it all.
- The former home of the Winter Park Library is still empty and the city only got one bid from someone looking to make it into some sort of wellness-focused coworking/cafe space. But the commission doesn’t seem too excited.
- The Milk District is working with the City of Orlando to install a series of public art sculptures on a new bike trail and we strongly suggest that all applicants submit something with a giant pink cow. #Manifesting
- A big time music producer is coming to Orlando in search of the next big boy band and is hosting auditions at Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts.
- The Downtown Arts District is bringing back that Billboard art show again and you’ve got a few months to submit your work to be featured.
- Hit DJ Deadmau5 is coming to The Vanguard this September. That’s the guy with the giant mouse head mask that’s definitely not taken from Mickey Mouse. He says.
