Balloon World Orlando (Website) has sold their building in Mills 50 to a developer who is looking to transform the space into a new “speakeasy bar concept” in the new year.

Balloon World, which has been in business for over 30 years, specializes in professional balloon decorating and offers balloon decor and equipment for special events and has been located at 828 N. Mills Avenue [GMap] that whole time with a simple sign reading “Balloons” in balloon lettering facing the street. They have since relocated to a warehouse off University Boulevard at 6870 Stapoint Court [GMap].

According to a Consumptive Use Permit application with the City of Orlando under the tongue-in-cheek name “Milloons, LLC,” the building will soon house a speakeasy-style bar with roughly 70 seats, with a small patio at the front facing Mills Avenue.

There are currently two structures on the property, an older detached garage that would be demolished for more parking and the main retail building that would be completely renovated for the new bar use.

“It’s not a speakeasy literally. I probably used that word in the application in the wrong context. But idea is to try and get a nice cozy upscale bar there.”

There is no current opening timeline for the project at this time and it still needs to be approved by the City to move forward.
