We often get photographs and tips from our Bungalower readers of things that are happening around town, so we have started featuring them on the site in a series called “Eyes on the Street,” in honor of our favorite urbanist Jane Jacobs.

Well (shy) reader, you were right! There is something going into the former Jade New Asian restaurant location, and it does have a tie to a concept in Sanford.
The Current Seafood Counter (Facebook | Instagram) is currently one of the operators in the Henry’s Depot food hall in Sanford.
The Current owner, Mike Smith (who you may know from Sofas and Suds), told Bungalower that he’s looking forward to opening an expanded version of the counter in College Park, adding that he was, “Shooting for sometime in the spring,” for an opening, likely in March 2023.
Smith shared that the new menu will even feature some non-seafood items, unlike the original location.
Jade Sushi closed its restaurant at 2425 Edgewater Drive [GMap] in College Park on Saturday, November 5.
