As first shared in a recent report by Anthony Talcott for Click Orlando, the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is looking at possibly widening State Road 408 as part of an effort to reduce traffic problems.

According to a press release issued by CFX, the state road sees over 164,000 vehicles a day traveling east and west through downtown Orlando. The possible expansion project would add a fifth lane in the westbound lanes for the entire length of the road between I-4 and Bumby Avenue and from Semoran to Goldenroad.

The project is still being looked at and is in the fact-finding stage, but CFX expects to begin construction on the added lane in early 2025 with a competition date before 2027.

Also, chew on this video by Vox if you have some extra time to kill before that Zoom meeting.
