The City of Orlando and Visit Orlando will once again bring back their collaborative #407Day initiative to encourage people to support local businesses and share what they love about the region.

This year, #407Day will take place on Friday, April 7, and residents are encouraged to celebrate their hometown pride by shopping at and supporting their favorite local area businesses. This now annual campaign, inspired by the area’s longtime area code, encourages residents to support their favorite restaurants, bars, shops, boutiques, services, and other locally-owned businesses by sharing posts and photos on social media channels using the hashtag #407Day during their visit.

“I am proud to be a resident of our vibrant and inclusive community. I love to showcase what I love about Orlando all the time, whether on social media or visiting our unique Orlando spaces, places and people. And of course, that includes our small businesses, which I think make our community a better place to live.

– MAYOR DYER, CITY OF ORLANDO

Our editor, Brendan O’Connor, took some time last week to sit down with Mayor Dyer to discuss the initiative on our weekly radio show, “Bungalower and The Bus,” on Real Radio 104.1 FM and you can hear the entire interview below, on our Instagram.

The celebration also includes some more formal programming and micro-events throughout the day, including:
