A section of Central Boulevard in downtown Orlando will be closing for an estimated 60 days starting on May 15, 2023, to allow for a fairly intense reconstruction project by Lake Eola Park.

Construction company Gibbs and Register will begin a reconstruction project on May 15 that includes installing a variety of marked crosswalks and pedestrian ramps at the intersection of Central Boulevard and North Eola Drive. The project will make the crossings more clear to motorists as well as make the ramps ADA-compliant.

Once the work begins, lane shifts, detours, road closures, sidewalk detours, and/or lane closures may be implemented as necessary during the hours of 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work could involve some Saturdays as well, weather permitting.

Trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will continue on a normal schedule.
