The City of Orlando has issued a Lake Alert for Lake Rowena due to a harmful algal bloom.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection took water samples from Lake Rowena on May 4, 2023, and detected the presence of toxins that were deemed “potentially unsafe per standards” set by the Florida Department of Health.

As a precaution, the FDoH has advised that all residents cease any and all water activities and irrigation from Lake Rowena until further notice.
