The folks at Florida Citrus Sports want the Jacksonville Jaguars to call Camping World Stadium home. For one season at least.
The Jaguars are poised to get a fancy new $1.4 billion stadium in the next few years, and while it’s being built, they’ll need a temporary home for 2027 to host their home games. The Jags are looking at Gainesville or Orlando to fill in for just one year and construction is expected to start in 2025.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, affectionately called “The Swamp,” has a capacity of 88,548 and is currently home to the University of Florida Gators football team. Camping World can fit about 62,000 people but has hosted Pro Bowl.
A decision is expected to be made over the next few months but there’s no official timeline.
Camping World Stadium was recently approved for a $400 million grant from Orange County’s Tourist Development Tax coffers to upgrade the stadium, hopefully in time for 2027 football.
