Some people may have already forgotten, but the award-winning Ziggie’s Pizza (Instagram) in Ivanhoe Village was preceded by a crazy little concept known as Perla’s Pizza (Instagram).
Perla’s Pizza first opened next to craft beer bar Thirsty Topher at 601 Virginia Drive [GMap] in January 2021, under the co-guidance of Michael Collantes from Soseki and Christian Ziegler, with the good hair.
The menu featured a variety of tasty and out-of-the-box items including a banana and pepperoni pizza that quickly became a local Instagram favorite. Fast forward to August 2021, and the owners call it quits, with Collantes departing and Ziegler continuing on under the name Ziggle’s Pizza.
Now, according to a report by Faiyaz Kara for Orlando Weekly, Collantes will be bringing back the Perla’s Pizza brand in the former home of the Winter Park Collective and The Wine Barn in Winter Park.
