Commissioner Tony Ortiz’s office has just announced a new partnership between his Government Academy and the University of Central Florida.
“In today’s complex political landscape, it is crucial for constituents to understand how their government operates and how to effectively advocate for their needs and participate in the democratic process. This unprecedented collaboration with UCF further solidifies the Academy’s role in fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, marking a significant step forward in making government more accessible and understandable to the public.”
– COMMISSIONER ORTIZ
The Government Academy (Website) is a 12-week program where participants learn about all forms of government, including Federal, State, County, and Municipal. They meet various guest instructors who are professionals in many types of government-related occupations, in order to gain more understanding about how to best engage with their government.
There are two sessions each year, with English in the spring, and Spanish in the fall, and they take place at the Orlando Police Training Facility.
The program is now available through UCF’s Continuing Education department with classes taking place at the Orlando Police Training Facility at 100 George Desalvia Way [GMap] every Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Click HERE to register.
