Orlando boxer Omari Jones won a bronze medal at this year’s Olympic Games in Paris.

Jones is a Valencia College student and is now seen as one of the top amateur boxers in the world. He qualified for the Olympics in March after winning a tournament in Italy. He lost to Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev in the men’s boxing 71kg semifinal.

As a student at Edgewater High School, he was selected as a Youth Humanitarian by the City of Orlando Mayor’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission in recognition of his leadership and commitment to serving others.
