Roughly a year after it first opened in Mills 50’s Little Vietnam, The Mongolorian (Instagram) has closed.
The Star Wars-inspired restaurant specialized in Mongolian barbecue-inspired rice and noodle bowls that were first prepared by fancy “robot chefs” which stirred themselves. Those robots were abandoned shortly after the opening in favor of good old-fashioned human elbow grease which could crank out orders just a tad faster than mechanized robot predecessors.
The Mongolian was located at the former home of Firehouse Subs at 2217 E. Colonial Drive [GMap], which closed in July 2020 due to the pandemic.
According to a report by Faiyaz Kara, one of the original partners in The Mongolorian, Hoi Nguyen, will be opening a new concept called DZÔ! BBQ, specializing in South East Asian barbecue dishes.
