On Friday morning, September13, 2024, Orlando Police Department School Resource Officers at Boone High School were tipped off about a student carrying a suspected handgun on campus.
The officers located and detained a 17-year-old 10th-grade female student, and confirmed that she had a loaded 9 mm handgun in her backpack. The student told officers that she was given the gun to hold by her 19-year-old boyfriend, a 12th-grade student at the same school, and was supposed to return the gun to him later in the day.
Both students have been arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm on a School Campus. The male qualifies as an adult and has also been charged with Contributing to the Deliquency of a Minor.
