Florida Citrus Sports presented some updated plans for the Camping World Stadium at last week’s city council meeting, including plans to maximize seating and increase what’s available to 65,000.
Other planned improvements include improvements to upper seating bowls, improving the fan experience as they enter and leave the stadium campus, modernizing stadium systems, and more.
Another plan is to remove the lower bowl seating on the south side of the stadium in favor or retractable seats, to increase the venue’s flexibility and types of events it can host. See above for the rendering.
Other expected improvements include better wireless and updates to the exterior of the stadium.
Current estimates have a price tag of $400 million associated with these proposed updates. The City of Orlando wants to expedite the improvement timeline and proposed to enter a Joint Project Agreement with Florida Citrus Sports to help with procurements and roll out an effective implementation plan.
Florida Citrus Sports is in a time crunch to get improvements rolling in time to be a contender to possibly host the Jacksonville Jaguars at Camping World Stadium for their 2027 season, as they build out their new 88,548-seat home in Jacksonville.
