Last week, ahead of a highly anticipated rematch between Orlando Pride and the Kansas City Current, the KC players were greeted with a special Taylor Swift-inspired welcome gift along with a special message.
“KC Social Team, welcome to Florida! We hope there’s no Bad Blood between us. We know it’s been a fortnight since we’ve faced off and we know this rivalry has a big reputation and we hope it lives up to the hype! Best of luck tonight, Pride Social Team.”
Friday night also happened to be “Orlando Pride Eras Night” where fans could purchase merch themed after Swift’s Eras Tour. Swifties have been making friendship bracelets by the pound and trading them at Eras Tour concerts around the world. The phenomenon is based on a lyric from Taylor’s song from the “Midnights” album, “You’re On Your Own Kid.” The lyric is, “Everything you lose is a step you take / So make the friendship bracelets / Take the moment and taste it.”
Orlando Pride tied with KC Current 0 to 0 at the Friday night game, continuing their record-breaking no-loss streak.
